On Thursday, July 13, the BJP alleged that during the Patna police crackdown, their leader from Jehanabad district, Vijay Kumar Singh, lost his life. This allegedly happened while the Patna police was curbing the protest demonstration being carried out by BJP workers against the domicile policy of teachers’ recruitment in the state, by lathi-charging the protestors.

Singh, who was the General Secretary, Jehanabad district, was brutally assaulted by the police personnel. He sustained injuries on his head and chest, and succumbed during his treatment in a hospital. Confirming the death, Union Minister Nityanand Rai, said, ‘BJP leader Vijay Singh died during Patna police crackdown.’

Sushil Kumar Modi, former Deputy Chief Minister, Bihar, said, ‘Singh was assaulted so severely that he sustained serious injuries. He was taken to Tara nursing home where he succumbed during the treatment. After his death, he was taken to PMCH. A large number of women party workers were also injured in the attack.’

‘Singh’s sacrifice will not go in vain, and we will take this fight to a logical conclusion.’, added Sushil.

BJP President JP Nadda said, ‘The Mahagathbandhan government is attacking democracy to save the citadel of corruption. To save the person who has been charge-sheeted, the CM of Bihar has even forgotten his morality.’

On the other hand, the district administration, in a statement, said that Singh was found unconscious by the roadside, and that no injury marks were found on his body.

Taking to Twitter, LJP President Chirag Paswan, said, ‘In the arrogance of power, the CM’s police took the life of an unarmed BJP worker, fighting for the rights of Biharis. If this is not an undeclared emergency in Bihar, then what else is?’
