Bombay HC judgment on Bhidewada Pune paves way for national monument: Mankar

Pune: Nationalist Congress Party Pune president Deepak Mankar welcome the judgement of Bombay High on Historical place Bhidewada Pune and said it has cleared the way for Bhide wada to become a national monument now.

Mahatma Jotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule have started the country’s first girls school from Bhide Wada in Pune. This building is an inspiration for women, said Mankar who had taken many agitations to declare ” Bhidewada ” as national monument.

He said our leader and state Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is trying to develop this castle as a national monument so that the future generation can also take inspiration from it for social work and education.

Mr Mankar said the tenants of the Bhidewada had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court against the acquisition of land for the memorial. In the hearing held Monday, Bombay High Court has given a verdict in favour by giving the land for the memorial. This has paved the way for land acquisition for the memorial and the work of the memorial will be speeded up now, said Mankar who had taken several followed up, signature campaign from time to time.

Mankar told UNI here today that we have requested that the Government’s role in this regard should be presented effectively in the High Court. Accordingly, as the Advocate General presented the effective role of the government, subsequently High Court has given a verdict in favour of giving the site of Bhidewada for the memorial. Soon Bhidewada will be converted into a national monument, he added.

Mankar also thanked state Government, Pune Municipal Corporation, lawyers Nisha Chavan and people of Maharashtra who always supported and stood behind for this noble cause. He also requested the prime minister Narendra Modi to declare Bharat Ratna to Savitribai Phule who sacrificed her life for upliftment of women in country.

He further said women and girls are working in different fields and making their mark. The women education revolution emerged in the country became of Savitribai Phule, she deserves to get highest civilian award of the country at least now, said Mankar.
