Lucknow: Former president of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Kaisarganj Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has postponed his proposed ‘Jan Chetna Maharally, Ayodhya Chalo’ citing the police inquiry against him on charges levelled against by the wrestlers and the court directives.

In an open letter to his well wishers posted on a social media platform, Brij Bhushan said said, “I have served as the member of the Lok Sabha for the last 28 years with your support. While being in power and opposition I tried to unite the people of all the castes, communities and religion. It is due to these reasons my political opponents and their parties have levelled false allegation on me.”

He said alleged that in the present situation, some political parties were trying to disturb the social harmony by promoting provincialism, regionalism and caste conflict by holding rallies at various places.

The BJP MP has stated, “For this purpose it was decided to organise a Sant Sammelan at Ayodhya on June 5 to deliberate on the evil spreading in the entire society, but now as the police is investigating the allegations and respecting the serious directions of the Supreme Court the ‘Jan Chetna Maharali, June 5, Ayodhya Chalo’ programme has been postponed for a few days.”

He has said, “Lakhs of supporters and well wishers from all religions, castes and regions have supported me in a polite manner on this issue. Therefore why I express my gratitude to everyone and assure that I and my family will always remain indebted to you.”
