Kolkata: Close on the heels of the arrest of Trinamool Congress MLA Jiban Krishna Saha in connection with the alleged education sector scam in West Bengal, the Calcutta High Court has ordered a CBI inquiry against another party legislator Tapas Saha.

Judge Rajashekhar Mantha pronounced the order for the CBI probe on Tuesday.

Mantha also ordered immediate handover of the case to the CBI from police.

Allegations were piling up against Tapas Saha, the lawmaker from Tehatta in Nadia district, for cheating in the name of facilitating an appointment.

It was alleged that Saha took rupees five crore in 2018 on the false promise of giving jobs in the education sector. A case was filed against him by BJP leader and lawyer Tarunjyoti Tiwari.

Earlier, three Trinamool Congress MLAs were arrested in connection with the cash-for-jobs scandal.
