Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said the state government has decided to hand over the Sonali Phogat death to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

He told reporters that he said he would write to the Union Home Ministry in this regard.

However, the Chief Minister claimed that the investigation now was progressing in the right direction.

Earlier, the Haryana government reportedly wrote to the Goa government requesting it to recommend the case to the CBI.

Sonali, who hailed from Hisar in Haryana, was brought dead to a private hospital in Anjuna on August 23.

Though initially it was reported that Sonali had died of heart attack, a postmortem revealed there were multiple blunt injuries on her body.
