Bengaluru: Celebrations erupted outside Siddaramaiah’s residence here on Wednesday after his close aides claimed that the top party brass informed him that he will be the next Karnataka chief minister.

There has been no official announcement so far about who would be the next Karnataka chief minister.

The supporters outside Siddaramaiah’s house burst out in joy after several media houses claimed that the Kuruba leader has been annointed the next chief minister.

Some of them poured milk on Siddarmaiah’s poster, and some others garlanded a name plate mentioning “chief minister Siddaramaiah” at the entrance gate of his house.

Meanwhile, police officials inspected Sri Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium where the swearing-in ceremony of the new Karnataka government is likely to be held.

Earlier in the afternoon, Siddaramaiah met former AICC Rahul Gandhi amid hectic lobbying for the CM’s post. DK Shivakumar also met Gandhi and discussed the issue for more than an hour at Sonia Gandhi’s residence.
