Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday visited ISRO and felicitated its Chairman S Somanath on the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon’s South pole on Wednesday.
The Karnataka CM presented Somanath with a bouquet and a turban while meeting with the scientists.
In a historic event, Chandrayaan-3 landed on the Moon’s south pole at 6.04 pm yesterday evening, forcing the country into a festive mood.
With this, India became the first country to land on the uncharted lunar surface.
India became the fourth country to land on the Moon after the US, China and erstwhile Soviet Union.
Meanwhile, the Lander Module Vikram rolled out the rover, Pragyan, today with ISRO saying “India took a walk on the moon”.
On its official X handle, ISRO said the “rover ramped down.” “Chandrayaan-3 ROVER: Made in India–Made for the Moon! The Ch-3 Rover ramped down from the lander and India took a walk on the moon!” it said.
