Chinese ambassador praised Hasina’s strong leadership

Dhaka: Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Local Government Minister Tajul Islam. He praised Sheikh Hasina.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Local Government on Thursday (June 22). Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen praised the economic development of Bangladesh under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He said that China always respects the way Sheikh Hasina is advancing her country in the fight against hegemony. However, according to international regulations and the UN Charter, it is inappropriate for anyone else to interfere in the internal affairs of a country.

He also said that the progress of Bangladesh is an example of inspiration for other Asian countries and China wants to be a reliable partner in this progress of Bangladesh.

Md. Tajul Islam mentioned the memories of China’s visit to Shenzhen in the 90s and said that the evidence of China’s infrastructure, capabilities and technological excellence could be realized then. Referring to China being the second economic power in the world, the minister said, as an Asian country, this achievement is a matter of pride for all of us.

China’s current GDP is 19.37 trillion US dollars, Ambassador Yao Wen said, both countries can work for mutual benefit and improvement of people’s living standards.

The Chinese ambassador welcomed Bangladesh’s decision to join BRICS and said that it will strengthen China’s insular relations with Bangladesh.

Referring to the issue of Chinese financing in the Dasherkandi sewage treatment plant project, Ambassador said that the implementation of this project is contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of people adjacent to the project along with the protection of the environment.

Referring to the Chinese cooperation in the high-capacity surface water treatment plant project to be built in Rajshahi, Yao Wen said that China wants to play a greater role in the development of Bangladesh. If Bangladesh proposes the project, China wants to further increase the engagement between the two countries. At this time, the Chinese ambassador discussed the progress of various projects funded by China.

The local government minister thanked China for its cooperation in generating electricity from waste. Referring to this project as an example of ideal waste management. Tajul Islam said, this project will open a new horizon in Bangladesh in terms of disposal of waste generated as a result of increasing urbanization.

At the end of the discussion, the Minister of Local Government. Tajul Islam and Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen exchanged souvenirs from their respective countries.
