Clashes in Imphal, curfew shortened

Imphal: Report of clashes poured in from New Checkon area of Imphal East district on Monday after some persons wielding weapons asked the shops to close down.

As soon as the reports spread, people from other communities came out and protested.

To control the situation the Imphal East district administration has shortened the curfew relaxation from 4 pm to 1 pm.

The relaxation in Imphal West has been shortened to 2 pm.

Since May 3 after clashes between two ethnic groups several were killed and over 47,000 displaced. Internet was also suspended from May 3 last.
