Covid-19: India logs 7830 fresh cases

New Delhi: India recorded 7,830 fresh cases of Covid-19 during the past 24 hours, taking the active caseload to 40,215 according to the Union Health Ministry on Monday.

The death toll has risen to 53,1016 with 11 corona virus related deaths being reported in the past 24 hours- two deaths each were reported in Punjab, Himachal and Delhi, one death each in Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Tamil Nadu.

As many as 4,692 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. The total number of people who have recuperated from the disease is 4.42 crore ( 4,42,04,771).

The recovery rate currently stands at 98.72 percent.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.65 percent while the weekly positivity was pegged at 3.83 percent.

Around 220.66 cr total vaccine doses (95.21 cr Second Dose and 22.87 cr Precaution Dose) have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive, said the Ministry.

Meanwhile, 92.32 cr Total Tests have been conducted so far; 2,14,242 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours as per Ministry data.

Meanwhile, Delhi on Tuesday reported 980 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the state health bulletin stated. The cumulative cases in the national capital are at 20,16,101 while the positivity rate stands at 25.98 Percent.

Amid surge in the Covid cases a massive day country-wide mock drill was conducted “successfully” at 35 States/UTs across 724 districts on Tuesday.

On April 7, 2023, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya had chaired a meeting with State Health Ministers and urged them to conduct mock drills of all health facilities and requested them to review preparedness with District Administration and Public Health Officials.
