Drug free India fortnight from Monday

Mumbai: Central government has decided to ‘Drug free India’ to fight the menace of narcotics.

To comply, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has announced a “Drug Free India Fortnight” from Monday (June 12 to June 26 June).

The aim of this program is to create awareness among people about the side effects of drugs.

Social Justice Department Secretary Sumant Bhange held a meeting of the officials through televised system last evening regarding the celebration of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Fortnight’.(Drug Free India Forthnight). Commissioner of Social Welfare Department Dr. Prashant Naranware was present.

Mr. Bhange said that various programs should be organized under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Fortnight’ to create awareness among people about the side effects of drugs.

On the occasion of World Anti-Drug Abuse Day on June 26, various programs should be conducted through rallies, seminars, workshops, e-pledge campaigns, etc. to raise public awareness.

Cooperation of NGOs should also be taken in the programs, added Mr Bhange.
