Nagpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asserted that the efforts of science can bear fruits only when they are taken from labs to the land.

PM Modi in his virtual address to the 108th Indian Science Congress, which held at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj (RTM) University here, said that the efforts of science can bear fruits only when they are taken from labs to the land.

Highlighting the importance of science in making India “Atmanirbhar” Modi said the efforts of science can bear fruits only when they come out from labs to land.

The Prime Minister further said that India is becoming one of the top countries in the world in the field of science.

“We are witnessing the results of the scientific approach with which India is moving forward. India is rapidly becoming one of the top countries in the world in the field of science”, the PM said.

The PM also said that the role of India’s scientific power will be very crucial in the height at which India will be in the next 25 years.

“Today India is among the top three nations in startups. Till 2015 we were at 81st place in the Global Innovation Index of 130 countries, but in 2022 we have reached 40th place.” Modi pointed out.

Stressing upon “Data and Technology”, the PM said these two things can take India’s science to new height as it helps in converting information into insight and analysis into knowledge, the PM said.

He further said that the increasing participation of women is a reflection of the progress of society and science.

Now Indian thinking is not only that women should be empowered through science, but science should also be empowered with the participation of women, Modi said.

The participation of women in Research and Development has doubled. This increasing participation of women is proof that society is also progressing, and science are also progressing, the PM said.

Referring to the G-20 presidency, the PM said women lead development is also a major priority and India has done several extraordinary works in this direction from governance to society and economy in the last 8 years.

He further added that science in India should be the one to make India self-reliant.
