Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, upon returning from New York, may discuss by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin the details of his negotiations on the grain deal with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and world leaders held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, a source in the Turkish presidential administration told Sputnik.

“Mr. President [Erdogan] has already expressed his intention to hold telephone conversations with the respected Mr. Putin. These negotiations are highly likely to take place upon Mr. President’s return from the United States, where he will discuss with the UN Secretary-General and [world] leaders specific proposals for the resumption of the Black Sea grain initiative,” the source said.

The Turkish leader continues to promote his initiatives to resume the grain deal, the source added.

“Mr. President, at the UN, will again call for concrete, practical steps to resume the initiative and note that mere statements of support for Ankara’s efforts cannot move the process forward,” the source stated.
