Washington: The FBI is investigating a vehicle explosion at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing between the United States and Canada that left two people dead as an attempted terrorist attack, Fox News reported on Wednesday.

The FBI is investigating the incident as an attempted terrorist attack, the report said, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Two people who were in the vehicle died as a result of the incident, the report said. The vehicle, which was driving from the US to Canada, attempted to drive toward the border officer building, the report added.

A 27-year-old man was also injured in the explosion and taken to a hospital with minor injuries, the report said.

Explosives were found in the vehicle, the Fox News report said. However, ABC News reported that investigators at the scene were treating a suitcase or briefcase as a possible explosive device.

Moreover, NBC News reported that no explosives at all were found in the vehicle, further obscuring the situation.
