Festival signifying strengthening of ties celebrated in Manipur

Imphal: Ningol Chakkouba, one of the biggest festivals symbolising the strong family ties was celebrated in Manipur on Thursday.

Married women and their children visit their parental home for a grand feast by their parents and brothers and are bestowed with blessings and gifts on the day.

Manipur Governor La Ganesan, Chief Minister N Biren extended Ningol Chakkouba messages.

Manipur government organised fish fair and sale of goods.

Civil societies, student bodies also appealed not to hike the prices of goods to the business establishments.

It was a sight to be cherished as women in their choicest clothes and ornaments visited their parental homes.

Cultural and entertainment programmes were also organised as part of the celebration
