Five arrested for Amritsar explosions

Amritsar: Five suspects were arrested for the Amritsar low-intensity explosions, DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Thursday.

DGP in a press conference, said that those arrested were identified as Azad Vir Singh, Amrik Singh, Sahib Singh, Harjeet Singh and Dharmendra Singh. He said that Azad and Amrik were involved in assembling and exploding IEDs and the other three accused were involved in sourcing the material for assembling IEDs.

Mr Yadav, accompanied by Amritsar police commissioner Naunihal Singh, said that the wife of Amrik Singh was also being questioned. He said that the case was solved with the help of SPG adding that to unearth the entire conspiracy and investigation a special investigation team (SIT) will be constituted.

Notably, three explosions in the last five days near the golden temple in Amritsar, created a sense of panic among the public. First blast occurred on Saturday midnight followed by another on Monday early morning and the third on intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
