Chennai: Floral tributes were paid to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Bharat Ratna and AIADMK Founder M.G.Ramachandran, popularly clled as MGR, on the occasion of his 107th birth anniversary across the State on Wednesday.
On behalf of the Tamil Nadu government, Ministers T.M.Anbarasan and P.K.Sekar Babu and Greater Chennai Corporation Mayor Ms R.Priya garlanded his statue and paid floral tributes to a decorated portrait of MGR at the Dr MGR Medical University campus at Guindy in the city.
In Chennai, AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami, accompanied by senior party leaders and former Ministers paid floral tributes to a decorated portrait of MGR after garlanding his statue at the party hedquarters.
Over 10,000 AIADMK cadres gathered to mark the occasion. Mr Palaniswami distributed sweets to the party cadres and later administered a pledge to the party functionaries and cadres to strive hard for the party’s victory in the Lok Sabha elections due in 3-4 months time.
