Former Maha CM Ashok Chavan resigns from Cong

Mumbai: In a major setback to the Maharashtra Congress, former state Chief Minister Ashok Chavan resigned on Monday from the primary membership of the Congress party.

Mr. Chavan submitted his resignation as his MLA and primary membership in the party to Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar.

A top leader of the BJP told UNI that Ashok Chavan is likely to join the BJP soon, along with other Congress MLAs.
