Idukki (Kerala): Four people were killed and several injured when the Kerala Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus in which they were travelling plunged into a gorge near Pullupara on early Monday.
The accident happened when the bus was coming back from Thanjavur to Mavelikkara after completing a pilgrimage in various places by a group of people from Mavelikkara.
The victims were identified as Rama Mohan (51), Arun Hari (40), Sangeet (45), Bindu Narayanan (59).
The bus which was carrying 34 passengers, two drivers and a conductor fell into a 30-feet gorge after the failure of its brake system.
Following the incident, fire force units from Peerumedu and Mundakkayam rushed to the spot and conducted rescue operations. All the injured were shifted to various hospitals.
