Fresh Manipur violence in Jiribam district, 5 killed

Imphal: Five persons were killed in Jiribam district on Saturday as suspected Kuki militants launched an attack at Jiribam, police said.

A person who was at his home was hit, and another person who was guarding the villagers was also hit. Both of them died on the spot.

The village defenders regrouped and chased the militants and shot three of them.

Meanwhile, all educational institutions were closed down as Kuki militants have been using long-range missiles and drones to attack people since September 1.

Five persons, including a woman, and 16 persons, including two young girls, all belonging to the Meitei community, have become victims of the latest attack by Kuki militants
