Mumbai: Maharashtra NCP (Ajit Pawar group) president and MP, Sunil Tatkare, clarified that his party’s position on reservation for the Maratha community remains unchanged, saying that the Marathas be given reservation without jeopardising the reservation of OBCs.

He said that he would demand the government to conduct a caste-wise census on the lines of Bihar.

“It is not that the members of Maratha community are holding agitations for their demand of reservation only today. In fact, today, all communities are asking for reservation,” the NCP chief said.

Tatkare also said that a picture of a kind of dissatisfaction is being created for reservation in Maharashtra today in a different situation, he said and stated that the overall atmosphere in Maharashtra is that they should get reservation, but not from anybody else’s share.

“Today, we are working under the leadership of Ajit Pawar and the Election Commission will agree 100 per cent with the stand taken by their leader,” he added.
