New Delhi: Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah said the government will make an amendment in the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and Evidence Act in order to facilitate strong internal security and make the laws relevant for the present time.

While addressing Delhi Police personnel and officials on Delhi Police’ 76th Raising Day at New Delhi Police Line, Kingsway Camp here on Thursday, Shah said forensic investigation will play an important role during crime investigation. “We have to increase the forensic science network across the country. For this, the government is going to make it compulsory for forensic science teams to visit crime scenes, in which cases punishment is six years or above,” he added.

Shah further said that the country’s internal security has improved considerably since the year 2014. “After abrogation of Article 370, the security agencies complete control over terrorism can be seen in J&K. The terrorism activities have gone down drastically in the valley and stone pelting incidents have stopped here. Now, the tourists visit in J&K,” said Shah.

In the mode of technology, Delhi Police passport verification system has been upgraded and made paperless and transparent which will help to reduce the time of verification. At present it takes 15 days for the verification process but in the future, the process will be completed in 5 days.

“The year 2023 will be significant for the Delhi Police as the force will have to stay alert since Delhi will be hosting international dignitaries for the G20 Summit. Delhi Police will have to keep alert on three fronts- security, management and traffic maintenance- in the national capital,” said Shah.
