Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Monday granted conditional bail to former Maharashtra Minister Anil Deshmukh in corruption cases.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader has spent nearly 13 months in jail since he was nabbed on November 2 last year in alleged corruption and money-laundering cases being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigations and the Enforcement Directorate.

Justice M. S. Karnik, who had reserved his order on December 8, pronounced the verdict. He directed him to furnish a surety of Rs. 100,000 and attend the office of investigators as and when required.

Last month, the court had granted him bail in a ED money-laundering case but the CBI Special Court had rejected his bail plea, which Deshmukh challenged in the High Court.
