Chandigarh: On the call of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Thursday, hundreds of farmers gathered at Delhi Ramlila Maidan holding a “Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat ‘.
The government had given permission to 5000 farmers to hold the Mahapanchayat, imposing a condition of no tractor trolleys and no march at the Ramlila Maidan.
SKM spokesperson said the farmers have been demanding legislation ensuring a legal status for MSP for their crops. Additionally, they demand implementation of the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations for MSP, pensions for farmers and agricultural workers, and the waiver of farm debts.
