India Skills Report 2023: Results of 3.75 participants’ tests, survey on 150 companies

There is good news for our country, which has the highest young population in the world. According to the India Skills Report 2023, 56% of the youth aged between 22 and 25 in our country have the required capability to bag a job, which is the highest among all the age groups. The results have been revealed by the India Hiring Intent Survey, conducted on 150 companies across more than 15 industries, and the Wheebox National Employability Test (WNET) conducted on 3.75 participants in the country.

As per this, 50.3% people in the country are eligible for being employed, which is the highest in 7 years. In 2022, this number was 46.2%.

In the last report of India Skills, it was stated that those who have a B.Tech degree were the most eligible for bagging a job, and in the recent report, those with a B.Com degree have outdone them. 61% of the youth with a B.Com degree was found to be eligible for employment, while those with B.Tech lagged behind them with 57% eligibility. This is the first time in 7 years that those with a B.Com degree have left all the others behind. Those with an MBA degree are at the second spot for the second consecutive year, but while in 2022’s report, only 55% of them were eligible for a job, the latest report reveals 60% of them to be eligible for the same.

On the third spot are those with a B.Pharma degree (57.51%), followed by B.Tech (57.44%), and B.Arts (49.20%).

The highest number of jobs will be coming up in the automotive, engineering, and internet business sectors in the year 2023. 55% of the companies have said that they are making recruitments from government skill centres, while 90% of them stated that these people have been true to the expectations. The country has 10, 848 such centres, and 1.5 crore people have been trained in 8 years.

The state with the highest population in the country, Uttar Pradesh, is also leading the race of those with an eligibility to bag a job, the eligibility of which stands at 72.7% here. UP is followed by Maharashtra with an eligibility of 69.8%. In the last India Skills Report too, UP and Maharashtra were the top 2 states. In the latest report, Delhi is at the third spot, followed by Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Telangana, Punjab, Odisha, and Haryana.

On the other hand, those expecting an annual package of 0-2.6 lakhs are the highest in Tamil Nadu, followed by Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.

Bengaluru is the most preferred city for those who are looking for a job, followed by Chennai, and Delhi-NCR, and for those who are looking for an internship, prefer Andhra Pradesh the most, followed by Rajasthan, Jharkhand. The highest number of youths with computer skills are from Rajasthan, followed by Madhya Pradesh.
