Actor and film-maker Kamal Haasan, who visited Goa for the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), where his film Amaran was featured, called on Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant at his residence. The meeting took place during Haasan’s stay in the state for the festival, which continues to attract national and international guests for its vibrant cultural atmosphere and world cinema showcase.

Visitors to IFFI have been appreciating Goa’s hospitality, smooth event arrangements, and improving infrastructure. Against this backdrop, Kamal Haasan’s courtesy visit added to the series of goodwill interactions between film personalities and the state leadership. The discussion between the chief minister and Haasan touched upon various aspects of Goa’s growth and the evolving opportunities the state is creating across sectors.

Sharing his thoughts after the meeting, Kamal Haasan said, ‘Today, during my visit to Goa for the IFFI Festival where Amaran was featured, I had the pleasure of calling on the Honourable Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant. I thanked him for his gracious hospitality, and we had an engaging conversation on Goa’s development, particularly its dynamic progress in the pharmaceutical sector.’

Goa is rapidly growing in the pharmaceutical industry. Over the past few decades, the state has transformed into one of India’s pharma manufacturing hubs and is ranked among the top pharma producing regions in the country. With its modern infrastructure, well-organised industrial estates such as Verna, Pilerne, and Tuem, along with supportive government policies, Goa provides a strong industrial ecosystem for large-scale pharma production and global exports.

Haasan’s acknowledgement of Goa’s progress reflects the confidence many visitors and industries share about the state’s development trajectory. The interaction also highlighted how cultural platforms like IFFI continue to strengthen Goa’s national profile while offering space for constructive dialogue on the state’s future growth.
