Karnataka MLC bypoll to be held on June 30

Bengaluru: The Election Commission of India on Tuesday said the bypolls to Karnataka Legislative Council will be held on June 30.

The bypoll was necessitated due to casual vacancies in the Council after MLAs Baburao Chinchunsur, R Shankar and Laxman Savadi resigned as MLC in between March 20 and April 14.

Revealing the schedule for MLC bypoll, the ECI stated that the issue of notification will be on June 13 and last date of nominations will be June 20.

The scrutiny of nominations, and last date of withdrawal of candidature will be on June 21 and 23, respectively.

The bypoll will be held on June 30, and counting of votes will be on the same day.

The polling will be held between 9 am and 4 pm, and counting will begin from 5 pm on June 30.
