Lawyer shot dead while having lunch in Ghaziabad court complex

On Wednesday, August 30, a lawyer was shot dead by two assailants, in his chambers in the tehsil court complex in the Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The lawyer, Manoj Chowdhary alias Monu Jaat, was having lunch at around 2 PM in his chambers, when the two attackers entered the room and fired at him.

As per the police, Manoj died on the spot, after which a police team arrived at the spot with forensic experts. After the legal formalities were completed, the dead body was sent for post-mortem. The police are obtaining CCTV footages from cameras which are installed in the court complex premises.

At the time of the attack on Monu Jaat, other lawyers were holding a meeting, to plan out their strategy of holding a strike, called by the Bar’s Association in western UP, in support of their colleagues in Hapur, the police stated.
