Kolhapur / Sindhudurg: Maharashtra and Guardian Minister of Sindhudurg district, Nitesh Rane, laid foundation for installation of a new 60-feet statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot fort in Malvan tehsil town of Sindhudurg district on occasion of Shivji’s birth anniversary on Wednesday.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 35-feet statue collapsed in August, just seven months after it was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December four, 2023.
Rane said that the new statue would be installed soon without specifying the exact month.
The state Public Works Department (PWD) has floated a tender for construction of a new statue.
