Bad news revolving around the disease of malaria has come to the fore. In the last two years in Madhya Pradesh, among the samples of 1 crore 94 lakh patients suffering from a fever, only 6850 came out to be malaria positive. This year, 2 lakh patients reported a fever, but malaria could not be diagnosed in a single case, even though the symptoms were those of malaria, for instance, fever with shivering.

As per scientists, there are chances that malaria parasites have changed form. This is similar to how the Corona virus is changing its form. Due to which, malaria cases are not coming out with diagnoses. According to scientists, this is called Acute Febrile Illness with no Etiology, which means, that the reason behind the running fever cannot be found out.

In Madhya Pradesh’s cities like Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and Ujjain, 13 lakh people got themselves tested for malaria in a year, but only 56 tests turned out to be positive. As per ICMR Scientist Dr Ravindra Kumar, the government is taking the movement to end malaria most seriously. He added that the blood is tested to diagnose malaria, and it is possible that the parasite may have changed form, because of which malaria cases are not coming out after tests. He stated that now, they will develop a new method of diagnosis, in which they will work on different types of DNA based proteins.
