Manipur CM stopped by people from submitting resignation letter

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh was stopped on Friday by large numbers of people from coming out from the CM Secretariat and refused to disperse until the resignation letter to be submitted to the Governor was torn.

In a social network platform the CM said , “At this crucial juncture, I wish to clarify that I will not be resigning from the post of chief Minister.”

After violence erupted in the city areas on Thursday night after a victim killed allegedly after torture was kept at the Imphal main market the Chief Minister had reportedly decided to resign.

People waited near the Raj Bhawan to see the developments and the crowd became huge making it hard to control for the state and central forces.

N Biren came out from the Secretariat but was stopped by the crowd.K Govindas, Minister Works and Th Susindro Minister Civil Supplies came out from the CM Secretariat with the resignation letter which was snatched by some women and torn.

The two ministers appealed to the crowd to disperse to maintain peace and tranquility.After getting the assurance the crowd dispersed from the high security area.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to extend the ban on internet by another five days from today.
