Mukundan Menon is new President of RAMA

Chennai: Mr Mukundan Menon has been appointed as the President of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Manufacturers Association (RAMA), an association representing manufacturers in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry in India.

RAMA has been actively contributing to the implementation and formulation of government policies related to the industry.

It is affiliated with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII),according to a press release here.

Mr Menon succeeds Mr Kanwaljeet Jawa, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Daikin Airconditioning, who led RAMA for the past four years and made significant contribution to the association’s success.

Mr. Menon’s appointment as President is for a period of two years.

Mr Menon is currently serving as the Executive Director and Head, Room AC Business at Voltas Limited and has served as the Vice President of RAMA for the past four years, bringing in extensive experience and expertise that spans the entire HVAC and R industry.

Known for his strategic insight into opportunities within the Indian market, as well as his keen focus on air conditioning and refrigeration, Mr Menon has developed strong connections across the value chain.

RAMA continues to work closely with the government and other stakeholders on key initiatives such as the Make in India programme, developing a robust component ecosystem, enhancing energy efficiency, fostering the development of integrated cold chain infrastructure, addressing issues related to global warming refrigerants, and driving energy conservation and sustainable building practices.

RAMA is also actively involved in e-waste recycling, ensuring high-quality standards, supporting export promotion, fostering the start-up ecosystem, and facilitating skill development and employment generation.

The Union Government’s launch of the PLI Scheme for air conditioners has transformed the
manufacturing ecosystem in India.

The industry has invested over Rs. 6,000 crores in new facilities and technology centers, with Sri City in Andhra Pradesh emerging as a major export hub.
