London: British Defence Minister John Healey and other top military officials received the new Ukrainian ambassador and former Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi in London, the UK Defence Ministry said.
“Our commitment to Ukraine is ironclad. From training to equipment, the UK Armed Forces play a vital role in supporting Ukraine. Defence Secretary John Healey and Ministers Lord Vernon Coaker, Luke Pollard, and Alistair Carns recently hosted Ukraine’s Ambassador Zaluzhnyi in London,” the ministry said on X on Wednesday.
On February 8, Zaluzhnyi was replaced as army commander-in-chief with former head of Ukraine’s ground forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
Washington Post reporters noted that Zaluzhnyi could pose a threat to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy if he decides to pursue a political career.
