Phagwara: After an alleged objectionable clip was shown to class six students, a teacher was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), police said on Saturday.

According to a complaint lodged with police by Gobindpura residents, an obscene clip was displayed on LCD in the classroom. As the news spread parents, first rushed to the Government Middle Smart School and then to Satnampura police station to register their protest.

SP Mukhtiar Rai pacified the protesters and later, on a complaint lodged by a Gobindpura resident, police arrested the concerned school teacher identified as Rajeev Kumar.

Kumar sought to clarify that the video clip was displayed mistakenly when he was teaching the students using his mobile data in the absence of broadband. He claimed that he immediately stopped the telecast.

Rai said that the matter was being investigated.
