Opening Ceremony of 7th National Qwan Ki Do Championship 2025–26 Held at Jammu

The 7th National Qwan Ki Do Championship 2025–26 was formally inaugurated today at the Indoor Hall, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu. The championship is being organized by the Qwan Ki Do Association of Jammu & Kashmir under the aegis of the Qwan Ki Do Federation of India from 16th to 18th January 2026.

The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of renowned Padma Shri awardee Shri Faisal Ali Dar as the Chief Guest, along with Dr. Surjeet Singh, Director, Kashmir University, as Guest of Honour. Dr. Sukhbir Kour Bajwa, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, and Mrs. Surjeet Kour, Sports Officer, Kashmir University, attended the ceremony as Special Guests.

Prominent officials from the Qwan Ki Do Federation of India also marked their presence, including Shri Dinesh Sharma, Vice President, Qwan Ki Do Federation of India; Mr. Atul Pangotra, Chairman, Organising Committee; Mr. Sanjay Saini, Chairman, Self Defence In-charge, Qwan Ki Do Federation of India; and Mr. Sunil Dutt, Technical Director, Qwan Ki Do Federation of India.

While addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest lauded the efforts of the organizers for successfully hosting such a prestigious national-level event in Jammu and appreciated the role of martial arts in promoting discipline, fitness, self-defence and character building among the youth. He encouraged the players to pursue sports with dedication and sportsmanship.
On the occasion, Shri Faisal Ali Dar also distributed medals and mementoes to the players and officials, boosting the morale of the participants.

Around 800 players from various States and Union Territories of India are participating in the championship, making it one of the largest Qwan Ki Do events held in the region. The championship is expected to provide a strong platform for young athletes to showcase their talent at the national level.

The event reflects the growing popularity of Qwan Ki Do in the country and highlights Jammu & Kashmir’s emerging role as a hub for hosting major national sporting events.
