Gaza: The death toll from Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip since Thursday morning has reached 52 people, 39 of whom have been killed in strikes on Gaza City and northern areas of the enclave, Al Jazeera broadcaster reported, citing Palestinian medical sources.

The strikes were also carried out on the cities of Jabalia, Deir al Balah and Khan Yunis, including houses where refugees were accommodated, the report said on Thursday. Certain areas in the north of the enclave were subjected to artillery shelling, the report added.

According to the Gaza Strip Health Ministry, over 1,900 people have been killed and more than 5,000 have been injured since the resumption of hostilities on March 18.

On March 18, Israel resumed strikes on the Gaza Strip, citing Palestinian movement Hamas’ refusal to accept the US plan to extend the ceasefire, which expired on March 1. Israel also cut off electricity supplies to a desalination plant in the Gaza Strip and closed off entry to trucks carrying humanitarian aid.
