Hyderabad: A 24-year-old Pakistani national was apprehended in Hyderabad for his unauthorised residence in India.

According to the police, Fiaz Ahammad (24), a resident of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan, was taken into custody for unlawfully residing in his mother-in-law’s residence in Kishanbagh, within the jurisdiction of the Bahadurpura Police station in the city, for the past nine months. His illegal presence came to light when he attempted to procure an Aadhaar card using forged documents.

Fiaz had initially travelled to Dubai in December 2018 for employment in the tailoring industry. During his time there, he crossed paths with Naeha Fathima (29), a resident of Kishanbagh. Their acquaintance blossomed into a romantic relationship, leading to their marriage in 2019 and the birth of a baby boy. About a year ago, Fathima returned to Hyderabad from Dubai and stayed with her parents, while Fiaz went back to Pakistan.

Subsequently, Fathima’s parents reached out to Fiaz and urged him to come to Hyderabad. They assured him that they would facilitate the necessary arrangements, including obtaining identity documents like Aadhaar cards. Relying on their assurances, Fiaz entered India through Nepal in 2022, with assistance from Fathima’s parents.

However, as Fiaz attempted to obtain an Aadhaar card by submitting counterfeit documents, including a fraudulent birth certificate, local residents tipped off the police, resulting in his arrest.

Fathima’s parents, Zuber and Afzul Begam, are currently evading authorities.

A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, the police added.
