Bhagalpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday slammed RJD and Congress for ruining Bihar and said the state was reeling under series of corruption during the regime of both the parties.

Addressing a farmers’ rally here, Modi said that both Congress and RJD were responsible for ruining Bihar when both the parties were in power in the state.

‘Law and order had collapsed while corruption was rampant during the regime of RJD and Congress in the state,’ he said.

“Those who were involved in the fodder scam, cannot think of doing anything for upliftment and welfare of farmers “, the PM said while making an oblique reference to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav convicted in fodder scam, and added that farmers used to be lathi-charged while standing in long queue, to purchase Urea and DAP.

Shortage of Urea and DAP, was due to corruption in Bihar, as corruption were rampant during those days he added.

“Both Congress and RJD were opposed to construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya and now they are using dirty words for Mahakumbh “, Modi said, adding that Mahakumbh was largest congregation of unity. Millions of people who had taken holy dip in Triveni Sangam, were more than total population of Europe, he added.

The Prime Minister said that amount released directly to bank accounts of farmers under PM Kisan Nidhi Samman Yojana so far, was more than the budgetary allocation for Agriculture department during previous Congress regime at the Centre.

There was no pilferage of amount being given to beneficiaries under various schemes as it was being directly sent to their bank accounts while earlier, a large sum used to be gulped down by middle men, he pointed out.

Modi appreciated the performance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for accelerating the pace of development of Bihar. Under his leadership and active participation of Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Bihar was moving on fast track of development, he noted.
