Police seizes gutkha valued Rs 1.37 crore; three arrested

Sangli, Maharashtra: Local Crime Branch(LCB) Sangli team on Monday seized gutkha from two containers, valued at Rs 1.37 crore at Nagaj Phata in Kavathe-Mahankal tehsil of this district and arrested three persons.

According to LCB police, on receiving a tip off it laid a trap at Nagaj Phata in Kavathe-Mahankal tehsil and stopped two containers on the basis of suspicion, these were on way to Pune from Karnataka. After search, police team found gutkha boxes in two containers and other related goods, in total valued at Rs 1.37 crore.

Police also arrested three persons, who identified as Tipuraya Sangappa Bamangoli(26), Basveshwar Topanna Katimani(26) and Tamaraya Halke(30), all from Jat tehsil of this district.

Police are investigating further.
