Bhopal: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday laid – via virtual mode from the Madhya Pradesh capital’s Raj Bhavan – foundation stones for the DRDE’s Rs 300-crore Maximum Microbial Containment Laboratory in Gwalior and the Rs 417-cr Ratapani-Obedullaganj-Itarsi four-lane highway, which is part of the Bharatmala project.
The First Citizen is on a two-day visit to Madhya Pradesh – her maiden tour of the state after assuming the presidential mantle.
Speaking on the occasion, the Supreme Commander averred, “This state made an extremely crucial contribution to the development of Indian culture. Personages such as erstwhile president Shankar Dayal Sharma, Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee were born in this region. Madhya Pradesh is rich in natural wealth and cultural heritage. A culture of cleanliness has been strengthened by the state.”
