Rijiju holds coordination meet to review major development projects in Arunachal

Itanagar: In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for comprehensive and sustainable development, Union Minister of Earth Sciences, Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday convened a review and coordination meeting centered around the developmental projects in his native state, Arunachal Pradesh.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Border Roads Organization (BRO), Department of Telecommunications, and Ministry of Home Affairs, providing updates on the Vibrant Villages scheme, the progression of road infrastructure, and telecommunication improvements in the frontier state.

The officials presented a detailed account of the projects, their current progress, and projected completion dates. “These projects reflect the vision of a secure, interconnected and infrastructurally robust Arunachal Pradesh,” stated a communique from the Union Minister’s office.

These projects are actively being facilitated by the progressive leadership of Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu, it said.

Key projects that came up for review include the roads & bridges initiative by BRO, which since 2015 has seen the successful completion of 6,848 kms of roads, 24,531 meters of bridges, and six tunnels in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Department of Telecommunications’ 4G connectivity plan under Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) and Mission 500 (4G Saturation project) is set to provide 270 villages with seamless 4G connectivity, while the Vibrant Village Program by the MHA aims to improve infrastructure in 455 border villages to bolster border area development.

Rijiju, while applauding the Telecommunications department’s efforts, highlighted the critical importance of collaboration for the swift execution of the Mission 500 – 4G saturation project.

Additionally, the Union Minister urged all executing agencies to increase their efforts and foster

better coordination with the Government of India, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, and the BRO.

He further emphasized on regular feedback for ongoing and completed projects, timely completion

of projects, and a robust post-project monitoring system to guarantee the correct implementation

and effectiveness.

“With these steps, the vision of PM Narendra Modi of a vibrant, secure, interconnected, and developed Arunachal Pradesh continues to gain momentum,” the communique added.
