Mumbai: A Special PMLA Court extended the judicial custody of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut till September 19 for his alleged involvement in a money-laundering case connected to redevelopment of the Patra Chawl in suburban Goregaon.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Raut on August 1, after attaching his properties and those belonging to his business associates.
After his ED custody twice for 4 days each, the agency said they no longer needed him for custodial probe, and accordingly Raut was remanded to judicial custody on August 8.
A few days later his wife Varsha was also interrogated in the same case.
The ED last month questioned Varsha Raut for more than nine hours in connection with the case and recorded her statement.
Sanjay Raut, 60, is a close aide of Shiv Sena president and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
