New Delhi: Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Centre to file an affidavit within two weeks on funds provided by it to the shelter homes for children across the country amidst Corona pandemic.
A bench headed by Justice L Nageshwar Rao said that the fund has to be provided for the homes and seeks detail information from the Centre.
The Apex Court also asked advocate, Gaurav Agrawal, who is assisting the court as amicus curiae, to file a note on good practices being followed by states for management of shelter homes for children and how it could be further improved.
Taking cognisance of news reports, the bench led by Justice Rao had also ordered the State’s Health Secretary to file a report on “why precautions were not taken”.
SC, which was hearing the Suo motu case in which it has taken cognizance of rising cases of COVID in children’s homes, has fixed the matter for further hearing on August 13.
