Acting on a tip-off, the security personnel on Thursday launched operations in Charikar city, the capital of Parwan province, and discovered several pieces of weapons, including one piece of Kalashnikov, two pistols, eight hand grenades, and thousands of cartridges.

Four people were arrested, the statement added.

Similarly, the security forces discovered and seized weapon caches in Ghazni and Uruzgan provinces on Thursday.

The Afghan caretaker government has vowed to collect arms and ammunition from anyone living outside the security organs.
