Mumbai: Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has given permission to celebrate Shiv Jayanti in the ‘Diwan-e-Aam’ of Agra Fort.

Earlier the body had denied giving permission for celebrating Shiv Jayanti in Agra Fort area. Shivpremi approached the Delhi High Court, raising the question of discrimination on Shiv Jayanti.

After that now the ASI has given this permission. Because of this, Shiva lovers have expressed their happiness.

Vinod Patil’s Ajinkya Devagiri Foundation and Maharashtra Government will celebrate Shiv Jayanti this year first time in Agra Fort area.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde along with other dignitaries will attend this Shiv Jayanti event.

Ajinkya Devagiri Pratishthan was trying for this permission from 11 November 2022.

Despite follow up from time to time, permission to celebrate Shiv Jayanti was being denied by the Department of Archaeology.

Interestingly, earlier permission was given for the Aga Khan Award program in the same Agra Fort. Not only this, Adnan Sami’s concert was also allowed.

Those who have no historical connection with the fort are allowed. Then Vinod Patil, president of Anjikya Pratishthan, asked why permission is being denied to Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary, which has a historical connection with that fort.

After the efforts of Mr Patil, now the ASI has given permission to celebrate Shiv Jayanti in Agra Fort. Therefore, not only in the state but also from all over the country, Shiva lovers are expressing happiness.

About 350 years ago, Aurangzeb kept Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Raje Sambhaji under house arrest in Agra. Aurangzeb had planned to kill both of them at that place.

After that, Shivaji Maharaj safely escaped from Agra with a big shout. This event has a unique importance in Maratha history.

Therefore, many Shiva lovers wanted to celebrate the grand celebration of Shiv Jayanti in this fort. It is now being completed, said Mr Patil
