Gangtok: Sikkim’s BJP MLA Dentam NK Subba has complained to Union Minister Amit Shah, alleging that Jacob Khaling, the Political Secretary to Chief Minister P S Tamang, was promoting Christianity and Christian institutions.

In a letter to Shah, through Senior Advocate Alok Kumar, Subba accused Khaling of “using his position” to spread Christianity.

“Jacob Khaling has been promoting Christianity and Christian Institutions. … (He is) ‘Using his position to spread Christianity,” the Advocate mentioned in the letter, claiming Subba met him and handed over the documents to draft the letter.

Khaling expressed “shock” at what he described as “unfounded and dubious” allegations.

“I am shocked and pained to learn about the wild, unfounded and dubious allegations. He can be a threat to our communal harmony,’ said Khaling.

He challenged Subba to file a case against him if he can cite any instance when he (Khaling) had used his position to work against any religion or to promote any faith. UNI NN SSP
