Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has decided to hold a state funeral for Ratan Tata, the iconic businessman and philanthropist who passed away on Wednesday.
Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde said that Ratan Tata will be accorded a state funeral. At the same time, his mortal remains will be kept at the National Centre for Performing Arts from 10 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on Thursday for the public to pay their last respects.
Meanwhile, the state government has also cancelled all state programmes.
According to a statement, “At 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, 10th October 2024, Ratan Tata’s mortal remains will be taken to the NCPA Lawns, Nariman Point, Mumbai, for public viewing.”
The mortal remains will embark on its final journey to the Prayer Hall at the Worli Crematorium, Dr. E. Moses Road, Worli.
Additional Commissioner of Mumbai South Region Abhinav Deshmukh said that all police arrangements have been made for Ratan Tata’s funeral.
