Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate New Railway line between Jalklair – Krishna to the Nation and flag-off the inaugural train service from Krishna railway station to Kacheguda (through video conference) on Sunday at a function to be held at Mahbubnagar in Telangana.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate to the Nation and lay the foundation stone for several other developmental projects in important sectors like road, petroleum and natural gas and higher education worth more than Rs 13,500 crore during the function, a South Central Railway (SCR) release said on Saturday.
Telangana has been witness to rapid transformation of its rail network in the recent past.
Be it creation of new lines, expansion of existing lines, electrification of rail lines or introduction of new passenger amenities, the state has seen never-before growth. Taking this transformative growth forward, a new line between Jaklair – Krishna is being dedicated to the nation by Modi which will usher in a new dawn of rail development in Southern Telangana.
The introduction of train services in this route connecting the southern districts in Telangana with both State Capital and Raichur in Karnataka will aid in the socio- economic development of the people in the region.
The new rail line between Jaklair – Krishna for a distance of 37.48 Kms is part of Mahabubnagar – Munirabad New Line Project which is being executed by South Central Railway. Commissioning of this section signifies completion of the entire Telangana portion of the Project– Devarakadra – Krishna (65.825 kms).
The Jaklair – Krishna new line project has been completed at a cost of nearly Rs 504.89 Crore. Four new station buildings viz., Jaklair, Maganoor, Makthal and Kunsi are constructed apart from one existing station at Krishna.
The new line connects the hinterland areas of Southern Telangana by bringing them into rail map. Further, freight transportation will also get a big boost with increased transportation of Coal, Cement, Clinker, Mines etc through this route. It reduces the distance from Hyderabad / Secunderabad to Hubli and Goa by more than 100 kms.
A New Train service (DEMU) is being introduced between Kacheguda – Raichur – Kacheguda via Devarakadra – Krishna.
The regular train will be operated between Kacheguda and Raichur connecting Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet and Raichur Districts. This is the shortest route between Kacheguda and Raichur, compared to other available routes.
This train provides a cheap and economical mode of transportation for the people in Mahabubnagar and Narayanpet Districts towards the capital city region. The train will be immensely beneficial for students, daily commuters, labourers, and fillip to the handloom industry in Narayanpet, the release added.
