Agartala: Tripura CPI(M) Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury has reacted sharply after TIPRA Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Sunday announced the postponement
of the visit of the proposed interlocutor for talks over Greater Tipraland demand of the latter party.

A day ago, he told the media that the central government has decided the appointment of a retired IPS officer and the mediator of the Naga peace talk A K Mishra as the interlocutor for Motha, as promised by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. According to the report, Mishra was supposed to reach Agartala on May 8 two days before the scheduled visit of Shah.

Pradyot in a social media post said, “It has been informed by AK Mishra to me that he has to rush down to Manipur because of the situation there and will be coming to Tripura after handling the crisis there. We understand the gravity of the situation there and will be waiting for the next date of announcement. I will be meeting the Home Minister as scheduled on May 10”.

Training his guns afresh on Pradyot Kishore, the CPI(M) State Secretary commented that the proposed appointment of ‘interlocutor’ as promised by BJP is another Jumla (false) and a mean tactic to take the simple tribals for a ride. And, Pradyot has been misleading the simple tribal by floating mythical demands like Greater Tipraland.

“Even when he had raised the unrealistic and divisive demands, we knew that nothing would come out of this and this has come true now; Pradyot Kishore is now a prisoner in the hands of BJP and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma; he cannot get out of this,” he pointed out.

In case the ‘interlocutor’ is actually appointed there is no reason why other tribal-based parties will not talk to them. After the 2018 assembly election the BJP, in response to Tipraland demand for IPFT had constituted an empowered committee, which did nothing in five years and it is still on paper. Even the 125th Constitution amendment bill has been hanging fire, he observed.

“Pradyot Kishore needs to explain what exactly he demands from the so-called interlocutor and what he means by his pet theory of constitutional solution,” Chaudhury added.
