Washington: The ongoing crisis in Ukraine is not and should not become an issue in the China-US relationship, and any conflict between Beijing and Washington would cause “unimaginable consequences” for the entire world, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng has told an event held in the Chinese Embassy.

“The Ukraine crisis is not and should not be an issue in China and the United States, and an early ceasefire serves the interests of all states,” the ambassador told the event on the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army on Thursday.

Xie added that Beijing and Washington should “value peace and put a law of no conflict and no confrontation,” as progress in the bilateral relationship has historically been difficult for them.

“The China-US relationship is too big to fail. Any conflict or confrontation would cause unimaginable consequences for both countries and the entire world,” the ambassador said.

“We choose openness and cooperation, global development and prosperity we have a great hold. We hope the United States summit will work with us in the same direction: to stabilize and improve the bilateral relationship in the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and willful cooperation, with a sense of responsibility for the people, for the world, and for the nation,” the diplomat said.
